Secrets & Lies
By Jonel
Suspense rules the day here as we get to know the intriguing characters that McCoy develops here. I really enjoyed the continued development of the overarching plot of the series while this novel takes us on an adventure all of its own. Subtly vivid descriptions bring this world to life as a sweet romance brings the characters together. The unique plot brings readers and characters together in a suspenseful yet clean novel that alternately had me in suspense and smiling at the sweetness of the characters.

I really enjoyed how the characters in this novel were developed. Their individuality worked in with the way that they get to know one another. They were the type of individuals who invited readers into their lives for the short while that we get to know them.

All in all this was an enjoyable, sweet, clean romance with a dose of suspense. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Awesome!
By Glenda Parker
This is the fifth book of the continuity series, Rookie K-9 Unit. I have loved this series (all of my favorite authors are writing the series) and can't wait to get the next book but now I'm at the point where I hate to get the last book next month because I hate to see it end. This book is well written, action packed, and fast paced much like all of Shirlee's suspense books. I do love her work, don't you?
Ariel Martin is a widow, she is pregnant, and is trying to starting over in Desert Valley. She teaches summer school and is grading papers waiting for one of her student's brother to show up for a meeting when she is attacked. The only person who would want her dead was her ex-husband but he was killed. Could it be the same person who had killed several people in the small sleepy town? A rookie K-9 team rescue her but can she keep her past a secret?
Rookie K-9 Officer Tristan McKellar was late to his meeting with his sisters teacher. He had already cancelled twice, she wasn't going to be happy with him. As he arrives his K-9 partner alerts to a problem. The very pregnant teacher is climbing out one of the windows as a killer is shooting at her. Tristan and his partner rescue her but he is determined to protect her and her unborn baby and find the answers to his questions.
A journey of two brokenhearted individuals struggling to survive the attacks brought on by a mad man. They must learn to trust each other and trust God to help them. God has a plan for these two and it's much greater than they had dreamed. God has a plan for you too. All you have to do is have faith in God, do what He tells you to do, and say what He tells you to say. You will be thrilled by what He has in store for you.

Great series
By Books And Spoons
A great new instalment for the series I have been following since the start. There are suspense and danger coming from a few different fronts, and keeping the K-9 team busy, looking for clues and keeping their loved ones safe.
Ariel and Tristan were sweet together. They obviously cared for each other, and even though both of their lives were utter chaos, they somehow managed to insert themselves into each other's life so firmly, there was no other choice, but to give the attraction a chance. I liked how they interacted together, how they helped each other, how concern Tristan was about the baby, and Ariel about Mia, Tristan's sister. It was like they were meant to be together, and instant little family was formed when they were in each other's presence. I enjoyed them as characters, they were both easy to like and relate to. I wish their faith would have had more place in the story, not just their activity at the church.
The suspense had some tense and dangerous moments through the tale. Some of it was little predictable, but the story held interest nicely all the way to the end, wondering how and if the culprits were caught.
There's one more book in the series, can't wait to read the grand finale, and to find out the motives of the killer. This story was a great, entertaining mix of threats, peril, dread, and terror, teenage parenting, and a budding, gentle, and tender forever kind of love

Amazon.com Review
Setting: Contemporary U.S.
Sensuality Rating: 8

Bestselling author Nora Roberts continues her acclaimed MacGregor series with two romantic novellas in The MacGregors: Alan and Grant. In All the Possibilities, Washington, D.C., socialite Shelby Campbell meets Senator Alan MacGregor and the attraction is immediate and powerful. Unfortunately, Shelby is determined to avoid romantic involvement with any public figure, a resolve that stems from her witnessing her politician father's assassination. A man in the spotlight, especially a man in politics, is too vulnerable, and she can't risk losing someone she loves again. Her determination is no match for Alan's, though, as the handsome MacGregor lays siege to the Campbell heart with weapons too compelling to resist.

In One Man's Art, Shelby's brother, Grant Campbell, has found his own way of coping with his loss. A famous cartoonist and political satirist, Grant lives as a virtual hermit in an isolated Maine lighthouse, jealously guarding his privacy. His battlements are breached, however, when beautiful Genvieve Grandeau arrives sodden and stranded on his doorstep. Genvieve, herself a renowned artist, has come to Maine seeking solitude and inspiration. When Grant's grudging willingness to assist a damsel in distress turns to outright surliness as he camouflages his attraction to her, she sets upon a mission to make him regret his rudeness. Soon she has more on her hands than she expected, as she and Grant both recognize a passion that neither can deny.

Though thinner in plot than the typical Roberts book--due to the shorter, double-novella format--The MacGregors: Alan and Grant nonetheless contains the same compelling characters, rich description, and sensuous storytelling known and loved by Roberts fans. This newest MacGregor novel should please both her devoted readers and new readers alike. --Lisa Wanttaja

THE MACGREGORS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!
By A Customer
In this latest MacGregor tale, we go back in time and get to know the love story of Alan MacGregor and Shelby Campbell and Grant Campbell and Genvieve Grandeau. I must admit that this book was not as good as "The MacGregors-Serena and Caine", but it is definitely a winner. I recommend it and all the other MacGregor books such as "The MacGregor Brides" and "The MacGregor Grooms". They are all a great read. Trust me!

You can't go wrong with the MacGregor Series!
By CJMB27
I think I've read most of Nora Roberts books, unfortunately, I read the MacGregor series first, which makes everything else seem not quite as good. I loved every book in this series. All of them were quick reads, with a cute sense of humor and a warm hearted feeling throughout, and without being CHEEZY. I used to only read historic romance novels, with the exception of the occasional break to the present with a little Sandra Brown, but I have to say that Nora did an excellent job with this family and somehow managed to keep the story from feeling redundant which had to be hard with the basic plot in all books being the MacGregor secretly matchmaking his family up with the perfect person. It's all very very far from the reality we know these days. But that's why we read fiction, right? lol PS If you like the MacGregor Books and have been wanting to try historical romance, you might want to check out the "Velvet" series by Jude Deaveraux. They are INCREDIBLE!

"Advantage, Starbuck."

Isn't it always? Asher mused. For a moment the large arena held that humming silence peculiar to indoor sports events. There was an aroma of roasted peanuts and sweat. The overhead lights heated the scent somewhat pleasantly while the crush of bodies added enforced camaraderie. A small child sent up a babbling complaint and was hushed.

Seated several rows back at mid-court, Asher Wolfe watched Ty Starbuck—tennis master, Gypsy, eternal boy of summer and former lover. She thought again, as she had several times during more than two hours of play, that he'd changed. Just how wasn't yet completely clear. More than three years had passed since she'd seen him in the flesh. But he hadn't aged, or thickened, or lost any of his characteristic verve.

Rarely over the years had she watched a televised match— it was too painful. Too many faces were familiar, with his the most strictly avoided. If Asher had chanced to come across a write-up or picture of him in the sports pages or in a gossip column, she had immediately put it aside. Ty Starbuck was out of her life. Her decision. Asher was a very decisive woman.

Even her decision to come to the U.S. Indoor Tennis Championship had been a cool-headed one. Before making this trip, she had carefully weighed the pros and cons. In the end logic had won. She was getting back into the game herself. On the circuit, meetings with Ty would be unavoidable. She would see him now, letting the press, her colleagues and fans see clearly that there was nothing left of what had been three years before. Ty would see too, and, she hoped fervently, so would she.

Ty stood behind the baseline, preparing to serve. His stance was the same, she mused, as was his sizzling concentration. He tossed the ball up, coming back and over with the wicked left-handed serve that had become synonymous with his name, a Starbuck.

Asher heard the explosion of his breath that forced the power into it. She held her own. A lesser player than the Frenchman, Grimalier, would never have gotten a racket on the ball. His return was quick—force meeting force—and the rally began.

The crowd grew noisier as the ball smashed and thudded. Echoes bounced crazily. There were cries of encouragement, shouts of appreciation for the prowess of the two players. Ty's basic entertainment value hadn't decreased since Asher had been out of the game. Fans adored or detested him, but they never, never ignored him. Nor could she, though she was no longer certain which category she fell into. Every muscle of his body was familiar to her, every move, every expression. Her feelings were a confused jumble of respect, admiration and longing, which swirled to reach a vortex of pain, sharply remembered. Still, she was caught up in him again. Ty Starbuck demanded every last emotion and didn't really give a damn if it was love or hate.

Both men moved quickly, their eyes riveted on the small white sphere. Backhand, forehand, drop shot. Sweat poured down unheeded. Both the game and the fans demanded it. A tennis buff wanted to see the effort, the strain, wanted to hear the grunts and whistling breaths, wanted to smell the sweat. Despite her determination to remain dispassionate, Asher found herself watching Ty with the undiluted admiration she'd held for him for more than ten years.

He played with nonchalant flash—contradictory terms, but there it was. Strength, agility, form—he had them all. He had a long, limber body, seemingly elastic until the muscles flowed and bunched. His six-two height gave him an advantage of reach, and he could twist and turn on a dime. He played like a fencer—Asher had always thought a swashbuckler. Graceful sweeps, lunges, parries, with an almost demonic glint in his dusk-gray eyes. His face was that of the adventurer—narrow, rakish, with a hint of strong bone vying with an oddly tender mouth. As always, his hair was a bit too long, flowing wild and black around a white sweatband.

He was a set-up, and held advantage, but he played as though his life depended on this one point. That hadn't changed, Asher thought, as her heart pounded at double time. She was as involved in the match as if she were the one with the racket in her hand and the sweat rolling over her skin. Her palms were slick, her own muscles tight. Tennis involved its onlookers. Starbuck absorbed them. That hadn't changed either.

Ty smashed the ball crosscourt at the sideline. It careened away even as the Frenchman dove toward it. Asher sucked in her breath at the speed and placement of the ball.

"Wide," the line judge said dispassionately. A loud complaint poured out of the crowd. Asher fixed her eyes on Ty and waited for the explosion.

He stood, breathing hard from the punishing rally, his eyes fixed on the judge. The crowd continued to roar disapproval as deuce was called. Slowly, his eyes still on the judge, Ty swiped his wristband over his brow. His face was inscrutable but for his eyes, and his eyes spoke volumes. The crowd quieted to a murmur of speculation. Asher bit hard on her bottom lip. Ty walked back to the baseline without having uttered a sound.

This was the change, Asher realized with a jolt. Control. Her breath came out slowly as the tension in her shoulders diminished. In years past, Ty Starbuck would have hurled abuse—and an occasional racket—snarled, implored the crowd for support or berated them. Now he walked silently across the service court with temper smoldering in his eyes. But he held it in check. This was something new.

Behind the baseline Ty took his time, took his stance, then cracked an ace, like a bullet from a gun. The crowd screamed for him. With a quiet, insolent patience he waited while the scoring was announced. Again, he held advantage. Knowing him, and others like him, Asher was aware that his mind was occupied with his next move. The ace was already a memory, to be taken out and savored later. He still had a game to win.

The Frenchman connected with the next serve with a blazing forehand smash. The volley was sweating, furious and blatantly male. It was all speed and fire, two pirates blasting at each other across a sea of hardwood. There was the sound of the ball hitting the heart of the racket, the skid of rubber soles on wood, the grunts of the competitors as they drew out more force, all drowned beneath the echoes of cheers. The crowd was on its feet. Asher was on hers without even being aware of it. Neither man gave quarter as the seconds jumped to a minute, and a minute to more.

With a swing of the wrist the Frenchman returned a nearly impossible lob that drove him behind the baseline. The ball landed deep in the right court. With a forceful backhand Ty sent the ball low and away from his opponent, ending the two-and-a-half-hour match, three sets to one.

Starbuck was the U.S. Indoor Tennis champion, and the crowd's hero.

Asher let the enthusiasm pour around her as Ty walked to the net for the traditional handshake. The match had affected her more than she'd anticipated, but she passed this off as professional admiration. Now she allowed herself to wonder what his reaction would be when he saw her again.

Had she hurt him? His heart? His pride? The pride, she mused. That she could believe. The heart was a different matter. He would be angry, she concluded. She would be cool. Asher knew how to maintain a cool exterior as well as she knew how to smash an overhead lob. She'd learned it all as a child. When they met, she would simply deploy his temper. She had been preparing for the first encounter almost as religiously as she had been preparing to pick up her profession again. Asher was going to win at both. After he had finished with the showers and the press, she would make it a point to seek him out. To congratulate him—and to present the next test. It was much wiser for her to make the first move, for her to be the one prepared. Confident, she watched Ty exchange words with Grimalier at the net.

Then Ty turned his head very slowly, very deliberately. With no searching through the crowd, no hesitation, his eyes locked on hers. The strength of the contact had her drawing in a sharp, unwilling breath. His eyes held, no wavering. Her mouth went dry. Then he smiled, an unpleasant, direct challenge. Asher met it, more from shock than temerity as the crowd bellowed his name. Starbuck echoed from the walls like a litany. Ten seconds—fifteen—he neither blinked nor moved. For a man of action he had an uncanny ability for stillness. Boring into hers, his eyes made the distance between them vanish. The smile remained fixed. Just as Asher's palms began to sweat, he turned a full circle for the crowd, his racket above his head like a lance. They adored him.

He'd known, Asher thought furiously as people swarmed around her. He had known all along that she was there. Her anger wasn't the hot, logical result of being outmaneuvered, but small, silver slices of cold fury. Ty had let her know in ten seconds, without words, that the game was still on. And he always won.

Not this time though, she told herself. She had changed too. But she stood where she was, rooted, staring out at the now empty court. Her thoughts were whirling with memories, emotions, remembered sensations. People brushed by her, already debating the match.

She was a tall, reed-slim figure tanned gold from hours in the sun. Her hair was short, sculptured and misty-blond. The style flattered, while remaining practical for her profession. Over three years of retirement, Asher hadn't altered it. Her face seemed more suited to the glossy pages of a fashion magazine than the heat and frenzy of a tennis court. A weekender, one might think, looking at her elegant cheekbones in an oval face. Not a pro. The nose was small and straight above a delicately molded mouth she rarely thought to tint. Makeup on the courts was a waste of time, as sweat would wash it away. Her eyes were large and round, a shade of blue that hinted at violet. One of her few concessions to vanity was to darken the thick pale lashes that surrounded them. While other women competitors added jewelry or ribbons and bows to the court dress, Asher had never thought of it. Even off the court her attire leaned toward the simple and muted.

An enterprising reporter had dubbed her "The Face" when she had been eighteen. She'd been nearly twenty-three when she had retired from professional play, but the name had stuck. Hers was a face of great beauty and rigid control. On court, not a flicker of expression gave her opponent or the crowd a hint of what she was thinking or feeling. One of her greatest defenses in the game was her ability to remain unruffled under stress. The standard seeped into her personal life.

Asher had lived and breathed tennis for so long that the line of demarcation between woman and athlete was smudged. The hard, unbendable rule, imposed by her father, was ingrained into her—privacy, first and last. Only one person had ever been able to cross the boundary. Asher was determined he would not do so again.

As she stood staring down at the empty court, her face told nothing of her anger or turmoil—or the pain she hadn't been prepared for. It was calm and aloof. Her concentration was so deep that the leader of the small packet of people that approached her had to speak her name twice to get her attention.

She'd been recognized, she discovered. Though Asher had known it was inevitable, it still gave her a twist of pleasure to sign the papers and programs thrust at her. She hadn't been forgotten.

The questions were easy to parry, even when they skirted close to her relationship with Ty. A smile and double-talk worked well with fans. Asher wasn't naïve enough to think it would work with reporters. That, she hoped, was for another day.

As she signed, and edged her way back, Asher spotted a few colleagues—an old foe, a former doubles partner, a smattering of faces from the past. Her eyes met Chuck Prince's. Ty's closest friend was an affable player with a wrist of steel and beautiful footwork. Though the silent exchange was brief, even friendly, Asher saw the question in his eyes before she gave her attention to the next fan.

The word's out, she thought almost grimly as she smiled at a teenage tennis buff. Asher Wolfe's picking up her racket again. And they'd wonder, and eventually ask, if she was picking up Ty Starbuck too.

"Asher!" Chuck moved to her with the same bouncy stride he used to cross a court. In his typical outgoing style he seized her by the shoulders and kissed her full on the mouth. "Hey, you look terrific!"

With a laugh Asher drew back the breath his greeting had stolen from her. "So do you." It was inevitably true. Chuck was average in almost every way—height, build, coloring. But his inner spark added appeal and a puckish sort of sexuality. He'd never hesitated to exploit it—good-naturedly.

"No one knew you were coming," Chuck complained, easing her gently through the thinning crowd. "I didn't know you were here until…" His voice trailed off so that Asher knew he referred to the ten seconds of potent contact with Ty. "Until after the match," he finished. He gave her shoulder a quick squeeze. "Why didn't you give someone a call?"

"I wasn't entirely sure I'd make it." Asher allowed herself to be negotiated to a clear spot in a rear hallway. "Then I thought I'd just melt into the crowd. It didn't seem fair to disrupt the match with any the-prodigal-returns business."

"It was a hell of a match." The flash of teeth gleamed with enthusiasm. "I don't know if I've ever seen Ty play better than he did in the last set. Three aces."

"He always had a deadly serve," Asher murmured.

"Have you seen him?"

From anyone else the blunt question would have earned a cold stare. Chuck earned a quick grimace. "No. I will, of course, but I didn't want to distract him before the match." Asher linked her fingers—an old nervous habit. "I didn't realize he knew I was here."

Distract Starbuck, she thought with an inner laugh. No one and nothing distracted him once he picked up his game racket.

"He went crazy when you left."

Chuck's quiet statement brought her back. Deliberately she unlaced her fingers. "I'm sure he recovered quickly." Because the retort was sharper than she had intended, Asher shook her head as if to take back the words. "How have you been? I saw an ad with you touting the virtues of a new line of tennis shoes."

Classic Nora Roberts!
By GinRobi
When I picked up this book, I thought "Hooray!" I finally have all of Nora's books. But I'd been mistaken. I'd read both before, both are in separate omnibuses, but that's okay, LOL! I loved them both anyway and read them again. I'm missing "Promise Me Tomorrow."

Opposites Attract

Married and recently divorced, Asher Wolfe is back on the tennis circuit. And she plans to win it all. She'd left suddenly 3 years before, and after having announced her retirement, her father/mentor, refused to speak to her. A loveless marriage ends in divorce and now Asher wants to conquer the tennis world once again. One thing - she has to learn to block her heart from Ty Starbuck - and she better learn fast.

Ty knows Asher's back, and he plans on cornering her. Three years ago, she left without even saying goodbye, without leaving a note. He thought she loved him. He loved her, planned to ask her to marry him, but on the night he wanted to propose, she disappears, only for him to hear she's agreed to marry someone else.

Three years later, Ty's still hurting and angry, and as much as he wants revenge ... but both have changed, even though they still secretly love each other. Secrets that can hurt/destroy them both are about to be known, but will Ty be able to get over Asher's biggest secret of all?

**Incredible! The intensity you can feel between them is palpable to say the least, love scenes making the reader hot under the collar! Descriptions put you right there with the couple, right there in the middle of all tennis matches, won or lossed. Different places and settings, you can't help getting swept away with the story.

A Will and a Way

After the death of their uncle, the will is read before the entire family. Even from the grave, Uncle Jolley is having the last laugh. He gave the meaningless things to his son, to the rest of the family. But to Pandora and Michael, he left the "rest of his estate, in entirety, all accounts, all business interests, all stocks, bonds and trusts, all real and personal property with all affection. Share and share alike... I ask only one thing of each of them in return. Beginning no more than a week after the reading of this document, Pandora and Michael will move into my home, Jolley's Folley. They will live there together for a period of six months, neither one spending more than two nights in succession under another roof. ... You have my blessing, children. Don't let an old, dead man down." Pandora is shocked; she doesn't want the money and the holdings and the responsibility that comes with it, but she does want Jolley's Folley, the only real home she's ever known.

But Michael wants it as well, and he convinces her to stay. Up until now, they only got on each other's nerves when under the same roof. Will they be able to make it the whole six months? The rest of the family is in an uproar. Once Pandora and Michael move into the house, strange things begin to happen, and the antics get bigger. At first, it looks like one is playing tricks on the other and vice versa... But the notion is quickly put to rest. The question remains... Who's pulling these tricks? Obviously someone wants to stop Michael and Pandora from getting through the entire six months. But who?

**I loved this one, even the first time I read it. The way they fought their attraction to each other, the way they irritated each other, the way the defended and fought for each other, and the sweetest things Michael does for Pandora ... *sigh* A wonderful love story together with mystery and suspense, all wrapped with Nora's writing style and descriptions, you can't ask for a better story.

written by Nora Roberts before she was Nora Roberts - Don't Buy!
By Blue Wind Kami
written a quarter of a century ago, back when Nora Roberts was still learning how to write. Opposites Attract is as hackneyed and formulaic as the worst Harlequin ever written and gets no stars whatsoever. A Will and A Way has hints of the humor that Nora Roberts will get so good at, but there's no depth. Don't waste your money especially since there are so many great Nora Roberts books from after she hit her stride as America's greatest romance author.

Cowboy Way Wins the Gold.
By Ursula Bauer
Christine Wenger's debut romance The Cowboy Way is a winning, warm, engaging read with down home characters that feel life, yearn for love, struggle with disappointment, chase dreams, and wind up with the ultimate prize. The heroine, Beth, is a woman we can all relate to: she's strong yet vulnerable, soft yet resilient, feminine yet tough. Her life was torn apart when her young son was in an accident, leaving him wheelchair bound. She faces the day to day challenges of living this life, and struggles with guilt at the same time. But her son won't let her stay down long, and enters a contest that ropes in a free vacation at a working ranch for a "wheelchair rodeo" hosted by the hero and his family. The hero is a man who peaked in his field of rodeo bull riding, and is on the other side of bad injuries and a life altering career decision: one he's bound not to make. Jake is the kind of cowboy you want all for your own: tall, dark, tough on the outside, full of soft spots for women and kids on the inside, yet he's got enough flaws to bring him down to earth enough to be believable. Beth and Jake are fire and gasoline, sparking off one another with increasing tension that has you turning page after page after page to soak the whole story in. I don't want to ruin the ending by giving away the twists and turns. Suffice to say by the book's conclusion you'll be longing for more of this fabulous writing, and looking for a cowboy to call your own.

For a first romance, this is impressive work, and it truly captures all that's great about reading in the SIM line. This is definitely an author to remember, and to watch. And The Cowboy Way is definitely a book to buy, read and keep

Wonderful debut novel!
By Susan St.Thomas
Five Roses

Ms. Wenger's debut book is a winner! She has created two memorable characters in a cowboy story that is a fast, satisfying read. Jake, a celebrated rodeo champion, is all rough and tough as nails when he rides bulls, but can't resist helping handicapped children and especially one beautiful blue eyed widow. Beth may look soft while caring for her wheelchair bound seven year old, but she's tough as an eight second ride on a bull named "Twister." I love that the characters are so opposite. Jake may be hard on the outside, but he's soft as pudding on the inside and organizes a Wheelchair Rodeo at his ranch every year. The death of her husband, whose drinking and driving has landed her son in a wheelchair, has left Beth so hard and cynical that it's gonna take a lot of cowboy charm to melt her heart. And Jake's just the cowboy for the job. This is such a sweet story, not only because of Jake and Beth, but you will just love the little boy, Kevin. If you love cowboy stories, this is a must read.

I loved this book. It had a perfect ending!
By Jenna Mindel
Christine Wenger's debut novel is a keeper! I loved this story, and I loved the author's way of gently building the tension throughout the book until I was nervous as all get out about Jake's bullriding future and his permanent injuries and whether he'd actually get the girl! Beth Conroy is a marvelous heroine and a great match for Jake- she's real. I won't spoil the ending, but I audibly sighed after reading the last page. If you haven't read this book, buy it now, you won't be disappointed!

Domineering Hero
By Amazon Customer
This book has two of Nora's previously published stories. I liked the first one, but couldn't get through the second. I knew that since they were short stories the romance had to happen quickly, but it was just ridiculous in "From this Day". He was her boss and was all over her. She wasn't even sure she was attracted to him. Plus, he was domineering and controlling. The heroine was a bright, funny lady, and I didn't want to see her ruined by him

Fabulous!
By Pamela Leung
The Stanislaski (what a mouthful!) Brothers by Nora Roberts is a wonderful book! I enjoyed every minute of it. In the book, there are two complete stories. One, titled as LURING A LADY is based on Mikhail Stanislaski, and the other, CONVINCING ALEX is based on Alex Stanislaski, who is two years younger than Mikhail. Both brothers are complete opposites, Mikhail being hot-tempered whereas Alex is an all-around ladies' man. ;)
In LURING A LADY, Mikhail meets his soul mate when he encounters Sydney Hayward, newly president of Hayward enterprises and owner of a condominium he lives in. Sydney's grandfather recently passed away, and the company business was given to her. However lots of problems arises within the building (electrical and hydro problems) that Sydney isn't aware of, and Mikhail confronts her in her office. Sparks fly between the two, and soon the two find themselves attracted to each other. But something with Sydney's past will not allow her to have a future with Mikhail even though she does end up loving him. Read the book and find out what happens~ Just for your information: Mikhail is a carpenter and a famous artist that makes sculptures out of wood. It's very romantic.
In CONVINCING ALEX, Detective Alex is working hard on a new case where two young girls were murdered. He decides to make a visit to the part of town where he was told that one of the prostitutes knew the two girls, and was to question her. He comes across a hot "blonde" and after a few questions he arrests her. But imagine his surprise when the hot "blonde" is actually a redhead and not a prostitute but a soap-opera writer. She's Bess McNee, a bubbly and funny girl who claims to need to feel what it is like to be a character so she can write it better. Soon she puts herself up to some danger, and Alex is there to protect her. But he can't seem to fight the attraction he feels for her, and soons end up falling in love with her. Bess, as well falls in love with Alex, but she's already had three engagements before that fell apart, and it's difficult for her to convince Alex that this time around is true love. So there begins the problem, and Bess must make Alex trust in her.
The Stanislaski Brothers is full of humor, love and kindness. Nora Roberts is fabulous at making the reader fall in love with The Stanislaski family, they are all great people and fun to read about. I can't wait to get my hands on The Stanislaski Sisters. Enjoy!

Two fabulous romance stories - one great family
By A Customer
The Stanislaski Brothers is a book of 2 complete stories; one about Mikhail Stanislaski (Luring a Lady) and the other about Alexi Stanislaski (Convincing Alex). I have to admit I liked Mikhail a little better than Alexi. Something about his story held me more and I felt it more compelling, a little more romantic. That is not to say that I did not enjoy Alexi as well, his is a great story.
Both are great romance stories, every woman's fantasy! Mikhail and Alexi are both fabulous leading men, very different people but each sensitive, caring and loving in their own way. I really like it when Nora Roberts writes about families you can feel as if you are a part of them and get to know everyone - I just love this family, wish I could have met them! I can't wait to read The Stanislaski Sisters!

The Stanislaski Brothers
By Betsy Lord
I am in love with the Stanislaski Brothers. What a wonderful, heartwarming and loving family, the rich characters of Yuri and Nadia, the heart of this remarkable family, their sons Mikhail and Alexi, daughters Rachael and Natasha are memorizing. Mikhail and Stacey, Alexi and Bess love stories are every woman's fantasy. The story is so full of emotion and romance that you will not be able to put it down. Another Nora Roberts winner.

Amazon.com Review
The eagerly anticipated sequel to The MacGregor Brides is here! And this time family patriarch Daniel MacGregor has his sights set on his three grandsons, cousins D.C., Duncan, and Ian, each of whom is very aware of Daniel's matchmaking machinations, and each equally determined to avoid the tender trap known as matrimony. The MacGregor Grooms comprises three extraordinary stories about the inexplicable attraction of opposites: D.C., the passionate, temperamental artist, and Layna, the coolly beautiful businesswoman; Duncan, the riverboat gambler with the impeccable pedigree, and Cat, the tempting torch singer from the mean streets of Chicago's South Side; and Ian, the worldly, self-confident lawyer, and Naomi, the bookish butterfly just emerging from her chrysalis. Nobody sets the scene for steamy, sensitive loving better than New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, who continues her unmatched string of successes with The MacGregor Grooms! --Alison Trinkle

The li ght poured through the tall windows and splashed on the violent slashes of sapphire and ruby. It washed over the man who stood before the canvas like a warrior at battle, wielding a paintbrush like a claymore.

He had the face of a warrior—tough, intense, with knife-edged cheekbones adding hollows, a mouth that was full but firmed in concentration. Eyes brilliant blue and icy cold beneath knitted brows the color of old mahogany.

His hair waved over his ears, curled over the collar of the splattered denim shirt he wore in lieu of a smock. He'd rolled the sleeves up, and the well-toned muscles of his arms rippled as he slashed the brush on canvas.

He was built like a warrior—broad of shoulder, narrow of hip and long of leg. His feet were bare, his wide and clever hands smeared with paint.

In his mind he saw explosions of emotion—passion and lust, greed and hunger. And all of this he fought onto the canvas while mean-edged rock pumped out of the stereo and thumped against the air.

Painting was a war to him—one he was determined to win, battle after battle. When the mood was on him he would work until his arms ached and his fingers cramped. When his mood was otherwise, he could and did ignore his canvases for days, even weeks.

There were those who said D. C. MacGregor lacked discipline. To those, he said who the devil wanted it?

As he clamped the brush between his teeth, switched to a palette knife to smear on a bold emerald, his eyes glittered in triumph.

He had it now. The hours of waging this battle were nearly done. A thin line of sweat slid down the center of his back. The sun beating through the windows was fierce now, and the studio was viciously hot because he'd forgotten to turn on the air-conditioning or open a window to the warm spring air.

He'd forgotten to eat as well, or check his mail, answer the phone or so much as glance out any of the wonderfully tall windows in his apartment. The energy swirled through him, as potent, as primitive as John Mellencamp's edgy, streetwise vocals blasting through the room.

When D.C. stepped back, the brush still clenched like a pirate's blade in his teeth, the palette knife like a dagger in his hand, that firm, somewhat forbidding mouth curved.

"That's it," he murmured. He put the brush in a jar of solution, began to absently clean the knife as he studied his work. "Need," he decided. He would call it simply Need.

For the first time in hours he realized the room was stuffy, the clashing and familiar scents of turpentine and paint thick in the air. He crossed the unpolished hardwood floor and shoved open one of the tall windows, took a deep gulp of fresh air.

It had been the windows, and this view of the C & O Canal, that had sold him on this apartment when he'd decided to come back to Washington. He'd grown up here, with eight years of his life spent in the White House as first son.

For a space of time he'd lived and worked in New York, and enjoyed it. He'd also lived and worked in San Francisco, and enjoyed that as well. But all through his restless twenties something had tugged at him. He'd finally given in to it.

This was home.

He stood by the window with his hands shoved in the back pockets of ragged jeans. The cherry blossoms were in full, glorious bloom; the canal sparkled in the afternoon light. Joggers plugged away along the towpath.

D.C. wondered idly what day it was.

Then, realizing he was starving to death, he left the music blaring and headed to the kitchen.

The penthouse was two levels, with the top designed for a master bedroom suite. D.C. had made it his studio and slept on a mattress tossed on the floor in the spare room. He hadn't gotten around to dealing with bed frames.

Most of his clothes were still in the packing boxes they'd been shipped in nearly two months before. He figured they worked efficiently enough as dressers until he found time to buy the real thing.

The main floor had a spacious living area ringed by more windows, still undraped. In it, there was a single sofa—the tags still on—a glorious Duncan Phyfe table with a half inch of dust coating its surface, and a floor lamp with a dented metal shade. The random-width pine floor was bare and desperately needed vacuuming.

The dining alcove off the kitchen was empty, the kitchen itself in shambles. What dishes and pots weren't heaped in the sink were still in boxes. He went directly to the refrigerator and was bitterly surprised to find it empty but for three beers, a bottle of white wine and two eggs.

He could have sworn he'd gone shopping.

Rummaging through the cupboards, he came up with a few slices of very moldy bread, a bag of coffee, six boxes of cornflakes and a single can of soup.

Resigned, he ripped open a box of cereal and ate a handful while debating which he wanted more, coffee or a shower. He'd just decided to make the coffee and take it with him into the shower when the phone rang.

He noted without much interest that his message light was blinking, and, munching dry cereal, he answered.

"Hello."

"There's my boy."

And those ice blue eyes went warm, that hard mouth went soft. D.C. leaned against the counter and grinned. "Hey, Grandpa, what are you up to?"

"Some would say no good." Daniel's voice boomed out. "Don't you return your messages? I've talked to your bloody machine half a dozen times in the last few days. Your grandmother wanted to fly down to make sure you weren't dead in your bed."

D.C. only lifted a brow. It was well known that Daniel used his serene wife whenever he wanted to nag the children.

"I've been working."

"Good. That's good, but you can take a breath now and then, can't you?"

"I'm taking one now."

"I've a favor to ask you, D.C. I don't like to do it." Daniel let out a heavy sigh and had his grandson's brow knitting.

"What do you need?"

"You won't like it—God knows I can't blame you. But I'm in a bit of a fix. Your aunt Myra—"

"Is she all right?" D.C. straightened from the counter. Myra Dittmeyer was his grandmother's oldest and dearest friend, his own godmother and an honorary member of the Clan MacGregor. D.C. adored her, and remembered guiltily that he hadn't been to see her since he returned to Washington six weeks before.

"Oh, she's fit and fine, boy. Don't you worry about that. The woman's just as feisty as ever. But, well, she has another godchild. I doubt you remember the girl. You'd have met her a time or two when you were a lad. Layna Drake?"

Concentrating, D.C. got a vague image of a spindly little girl with hair like dandelion fluff. "What about her?"

"She's back in Washington. You know Drake's—the department stores. That's her family. She's working in their flagship store there now, and Myra… Well, I'm just going to say it straight out. There's a charity ball tomorrow night, and Myra's fussing because the girl doesn't have an escort. She's been at me to ask you—"

"Damn it, Grandpa."

"I know, I know." Daniel used his most long-suffering sigh. "Women, boy—what else can I say? They'll peck away at us like ducks until we just give in. I told her I would ask you. It would be a big favor to me if you'd see your way clear for this one night."

"If you and Aunt Myra are trying to set me up—"

Daniel interrupted with a hearty laugh that had D.C. frowning. "Not this time, boy. This girl isn't for you, take my word. She's pretty enough, and well mannered, but she'd never do for you. Too cool, to my way of thinking, and a bit of the nose-in-the-air sort. No, no, I wouldn't like to see you looking in that direction. And if you can't spare the evening, I'll just tell Myra I reached you too late and you already had plans."

"Tomorrow night?" D.C. scooped his fingers through his hair. He hated charity functions. "Is it black tie?"

"I'm afraid so." At the muttered oath in response, Daniel made sympathetic noises. "Tell you what, I'll just call Myra back and tell her you can't make it. No use wasting your evening with a girl who's likely to bore you to tears, is there? I doubt the two of you have a single thing in common. Better you start looking for a wife. It's time you were married and settled, Daniel Campbell. Past time. Your grandmother worries you'll end up starving in your studio, a lonely old man without a single chick or child. I've got another girl in mind. She's—"

"I'll do it," D.C. interrupted, purely in reflex. If Daniel didn't think much of Myra's goddaughter, it meant he wouldn't be on the phone constantly asking for relationship updates. Perhaps after this favor, his grandfather might ease off his relentless dynasty building—and though D.C. didn't hold out much hope for that outcome, it was worth a try. "What time tomorrow, and where do I pick what's-her-name up?"

"Oh, bless you. I owe you for this one. The affair's at eight, at the Shoreham Hotel. Layna's taken over her parents' town house on O Street." Examining his nails, Daniel rattled off the address. "I appreciate you getting me out of this little fix, D.C."

D.C. shrugged, upending the cereal box into his mouth as he traded family gossip with Daniel. And he wondered fleetingly where the hell he might have packed his tux.
