Love Cowboy Creek

I love historical romance novels. The people then did not have all the modern amenities we have now, but they seem to have more love and caring for one another. Loved the story of Will and Tomasina aka Texas Tom, Texas Tom was a cattle drover and Will was a gentlemen, such an unlikely pair. But there difference brought them together. Cannot wait to read Noah's story.

I'm an avid reader of Love Inspired Historical's but I must say the Cowboy Creek series has created an excitement in reading that hasn't been there for a while. The story line of creating a new town is so interesting and the characters draw you into their lives, problems, successes, till you hate to lay the book down. I certainly hope there are more books forthcoming because Bride by Arrangement, Special Delivery Baby, and Want Ad Wedding has just whetted the ole appetite for more. I want to see Noah's family come west and learn his baby sisters story. And the rancher that didn't get to marry Grace...such a nice guy...he needs a bride. Whew, wish I was writing one of these stories myself. Great idea, and super fantastic stories, ladies. This is the best series this year.

Special Delivery Baby delivers terrific Historical Romantic Comedy!

I've read dozens of Love Inspired books, but Special Delivery Baby has to be one of my all time favorites. To begin with, the publishers provided an absolutely adorable cover that immediately made me want to open it and read what was inside. I couldn't love this story more! Sherri Shackelford has written a fantastic historical so full of wit and charm I had to start highlighting all the funny passages to reread again. The characters are anything but traditional which makes it all the more interesting.
Will is one of three men who founded the town of Cowboy Creek. He's a handsome businessman looking to enter politics. A feminine wife will help him portray the right kind of image voters are looking for in a candidate. In the meantime, he finds an abandoned baby on his doorstep and goes against the social norms and decides to take care of her until her mother can be found. Tomasina Stone, aka Texas Tom, is the beautiful redheaded spitfire cattle driver he encounters when longhorns come plowing through town. Both baby and Texas Tom prove to be quite the challenge, but Will is up to it.
Will's efforts to help Tomisana find work while she's in town provides some hysterical moments. She knows nothing of feminine ways. She can't clean a hotel room without hogtying a guest who gets out of hand. She can't cook. She knows there are such things as pickle forks, but doubts they have snake forks. She can't do laundry. She's advised to find a job that doesn't include contact with the public.
Will thinks she's a magnet for trouble, but he's survived the war, he ought to be able to survive Texas Tom. She ends up being everything he didn't know he wanted. She never wanted to settle down, but Cowboy Creek has certain appeal with Will Canfield living there. So much fun to watch them both discover each other.
This is a delightfully funny and romantic read, but their are poignant and tender moments too. Special Delivery Baby has put Sherri Shackelford on my list of favorite authors and automatic buys.
Thank you Sherri for such an entertaining and enjoyable book. Can't wait for the next one, but until then I'll be reading your book backlist!
